Texas Spring Migration 2012
April 19 - Anhuac NWR and Other Points |
|
This was the clean up day. Trips to Anhuac NWR, High Island and Bolivar to pick up the species we missed on earlier trips, as well as a trip to the egret rookery on High Island.
The birding was very good. The early light on the egrets in the rookery was quite nice. And on Bolivar Peninsula, almost by chance, we picked up both Dicksissel and Bobolink, two lifers for me.

Because we had flight to catch, we couldn't spend a lot of time at any specific stop. Which is frustrating for a photographer. |

From the Bolivar Peninsula, we headed back to Houston International Airport. Our group was scattering, and Nancy and I were headed to Austin to visit family and, perhaps, pick up a couple of more species. The woods around Austin are home to the Golden-cheeked Warbler. |
